Printing on HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M477fdw:

I was trying to print a check, it was the bottom check of a sheet of 3, so a partial sheet, and fed it into Tray 1 (the manual feed tray).  It fed cleanly, but did not come out the output tray. Instead the check info was printed on a plain white sheet that the printer took out of default Tray 2.

I cannot find the blank check that I fed into manual Tray 1. The printer does NOT display any error, jam or otherwise.  I opened the back door but did not see it, took out tray 2 but did not see it, removed the toners and did not see it.

How do I find that missing check somewhere inside my printer?

It may be sitting on the duplex tray inside the printer. Remove the paper tray, look in the cavity for a green square which is the release for the duplex tray. Tray will travel slight forward and down and likely the check is there.

Nope it's not there either. The tray came down, and I even used a flashlight to double-check, but it is not there.

Hope you have another suggestion?

This is puzzling as the paper path from tray 1 is pretty much straight forward, the paper feeds in runs on top of the tray I had you drop down and then up the back , through the fuser and then exits. The only other possibility is that the check either wrapped around the fuser or crumpled at the fuser but you indicate that the printer still works,  The challenge with this engine design is it is nearly impossible to see the fuser unit without major disassembly.

Thanks for your help. I've also run other paper through Tray 1 to try to push it along, but no luck.

So there's no way to find it?

Unless the paper somehow slid under the transfer belt, which would mean it is sitting in an area where it will never cause an issue. If the printer works fine, the page is no where that it will cause a problem or it would have already.
