HP Laser Jet Pro M102a
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi ,

I bought a new printer " Laser Jet Pro M102a " two days ago and when starting it, it makes some loud crackling noises (like it would break or explode); also the green and the red attention lights on the LED screen are flashing. After a while it stops (only the green light keeps flashing). The same crackling sound is heard during printing; before paper feeding and after the paper goes out for the same period of time (about 10 seconds).

I wonder if anyone experienced the same problem with this printer ?

and Can it be fixed ? What should I do?
Thanks.

Remove the toner and close the door. The machine will do a pre start cycle.Should the noise be gone the toner cartridge might not turn easily.Should the noise still be heard even without the toner then the fault can be on the drive gears and even on the fuser unit.Hope this helps.

If without the toner everything works smoothly, it means you will have to replace the toner. If it is still a new unit have it serviced by contacting HP Support Team since it is a brand new printer unit.

Thanks for your reply, I really appreciate it.

I removed the toner and Yes that sound totally disappeared and it worked very smoothly, so I guess the problem is from the toner.
And yes it's a brand new printer, I only bought it 2 days ago and I am very disappointed now.
I tried to contact the Hp Support Team but I got the answer that "This product is no longer serviced by HP" !!

So I would like to ask if it's a big deal or not ? Would it pose any threat on how the printer works in the future ? or it's just a sound that I could live with ?
Taking it back to the store and trying to replace would cost a lot of time and effort and still not guaranteed that it will work properly after changing the toner ..

I would be very grateful if you gave me your opinion.
Thanks again.

Thanks for letting me know the result.

Since it is the toners, I would suggest you to install a replacement toner and check for the issue. If the issue still persist better option would be to contact point of purchase and get the printer exchanged/replaced since it is 2/3 days old printer.
