Some 4 or 5 months ago I began getting Low Black Ink warnings. The printer was relatively new then and came with deficient capacity cartridges, so I thought I better order one.  I also thought that it would be economical to use all the available ink.  As I said, this happened 4 or 5 months ago. I now get a warning in the printer window that the black ink is "very low". My new cartridge is sitting in its box on the floor and I notice no degradation in print quality.

Have I discovered that HP is simply trying to sell ink; did I happen to get an overfilled cartridge; or do I just not print enough? Sorry, I lost the page count. Is there any harm in running the laser cartridge to empty?

Hi,

Sometimes pull the toner out and gently shake few times the message would go away and you can continue to print until empty.  No harm to use toner to empty state.

Regards.
