HP laserjet M1120 MFP
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

After a recent mother board-processor-RAM-hard disk replacement and direct reinstallation (without windows 8.1) of windows 10, my HP M1120 MFP which is USB connected to my PC through a TP-Link router continues to print but does NOT scan via Adobe Acrobat professional X Pro . It used to do both before the hardware was changed and when windows 10 was installed over windows 8.1 (that came installed on my PC). I tried removing the printer and driver and reinstalling them (latest HP drivers) but to no avail. Strangely I am still able to import/scan but with the Adobe Photoshop which uses the WIA support. Can someone suggest how I could regain scan functionality through Adobe Acrobat Pro X? Thanks in advance!

Please try checking 'Error: Scanner not recognized' below, as I can understand, Adobe defaults to TWAIN scanning while your scanner is only provided with WIA driver:

Please keep in mind to use a direct connection to your PC while testing, as I can see from the router specs its USB ports support print and file sharing only, not scan functionality:

I forgot to mention that the error message I get when I ask Acrobat Pro to create a PDF file by scanning is: "Either Scanner driver is not installed ot Scanner is not connected". I tried uninstalling and reinstalling Acrobat but the problem continues.

Hi,

USB connected to my PC through a TP-Link router

What router is it?

Any print server usage (a USB connection of a printer to a router and not directly to a computer) will likely only provide print sharing capabilities, not any further capabilities such as scanning or faxing.

Try installing the driver with a direct USB connection to your computer and check for any difference:

Additionally, can you scan with Windows Fax and Scan regardless of Acrobat Pro usage?

Thanks for your response. The router is TP-Link Archer C7 AC1750  version 2 . I tried connecting the M1120 directly to the PC and then installing the software. It didnt make a difference to Acrobat. In response to your Q, yes I can scan with Photoshop (WIA) and with the HP Scan and Capture app but not with Acrobat X.

Thanks a lot!

a) I plugged the scanner USB cable into a different USB slot on the TP-Link router.

b) I Uninstalled and reinstalled the printer and driver.

c) Opened the TP-Link USB Printer Controller window and manually selected the scanner.

d) Finally, I ran the Adobe Acrobat X Pro as Admin

e) The scanner reappeared at last and I was able to scan into PDF as I was always able to do before.
