Few ({if any?) laser printers print true borderless prints.
This is to avoid (or minimise) potential contamination (and possible damage to the mechanism) by stray toner particles.
According to this datasheet, the unprintable margins for the LaserJet M254 series printers are:

Hi, Dansdaduk, thank you for your answer.
Learning about these limited print margins is disappointing. Had i found these details in the product description before, I would have searched for another product. According to Web-Info it appears that, there are models available which can do borderless printing.
Besides this, M254dw appears to be a good product and I'm trying to get familiar with it. I have it since a few weeks.
Thank you again,
HBMU

As I said before, few (if any) laser printers support true borderless printing.
Some models offer an "edge-to-edge" feature, but all this does is to reduce the minimum margins to about 2 mm.
Most inkjet printers do offer borderless printing, but often only with certain paper sizes and types (e.g. photo).

Borderless printing of a photo 10cm x 15cm could be achieved by a user defined paper size, slightly enlarged by the margin (0.5cm) on all sides, which would be 11x16 cm and result in a photo of 10x15. This does however not consider potential contamination by stray toner particles. To be on the safe side, I tested with 10.7 x 15.7 cm. The result was a photo with a fine white border of slightly varying width.
At this point I decided to not continue with additional tests. I will not use my M254dw for borderless printing in the future, since I do not know, what the consequences of potential contamination would be. Should I really need to exceptionally print a photo, I will have to accept the white border – or cut it off.
