Hi,

Thank you for visiting HP Support forum.

First make sure the printers power cord is plugged directly to wall outlet and not to power strip.

1. On printer menu, Go to setup-> services ->Clean page  (Run clean page)

2. Print the following page

-Go to setup-> Reports -> Print a Supply status page, check if it printed fine. Then try printing Print Quality page or DIagnostic Page . CHeck if it printed fine .

3. Check on the report if there are horizontal color bands from edge to edge on printed pages

4. Remove the yellow and magenta cartridges

5. Check on OPC drum to see if there is a scratch or spot of contamination will be present on the surface of the OPC.

6. If the defect cannot be found on the surface of the OPC, If you have a spare tone, then replace the yellow and magenta cartridges. Run a print quality test to verify that the defect goes away.

Hope this helps

1. did clean page several times

2. reports look pretty good have some stray toner in margins

3. horizontal color bands from edge to edge on back of all pages

4. drum looks good. no other cartridges avaiable for testing. Printer wont let me continue without all cartridges installed.fr_465_size880.jpgfr_466_size880.jpg

Just updated firmware and the problem still presists. Any recommendations on what part needs to be replaced?

Hi,

The test page looks good  as i dont see any defect on the reports you printed, except for marks on back side of the page.

Few suggestion in can think of.

1. At the back side of printer you have rear access door to clear the paper jam (Open the rear door and inside that you will see another door , open that door aswell, you will see the sponge roller/rubber roller which goes from one end to another end. Try cleanning the toner that is accumulated on it and then do a color calibration and check.
