M402n

I reset the printer to the defaults.  Have repetitively attempted to enter in the IPv4 TCP/IP settings but they are not retained.  Have configured on other HP printers M401 and M402 with success????

Thanks Copier Pro.  I performed the Nvram reset and then entered in the static IP.  I then printed the Network and Configuration reports, both of which do not reflect the static IP settings I again had entered.  The configuration and network reports both state the network cable is disconnected show "manual" network address method but no Pv4 Address, subnet etc.  The lan cable is brand new and goes to a switch.  I switched out another brand new lan cable and same thing.  No connect light on switch.    The switch is also brand new and functioning properly otherwise.

Is it possible the lan/jet direct card in the M402n is defective?

It could be possible for the board to not work on that port. But then it will be difficult to determine the problem without changing the board.
