I had a machine with some broken ADF plastic tabs so i tryed to pull a ADF assembly from another unit. I removed the cover, unplugged the two ADF connectors, unscrewed the ground wire and swapped with another machine. The manual indicates that a scanner calibration is all that is needed. Upon booting the machine the LED on the ADF never lights, insitalizing scanner appears for a couple seconds than dissappears, when i perform ADF sensor test the ADF jam door is online and ADF bin full sensor is online but no others. I tried firmware update, cold restart, swapping a different ADF, and service menu restore adf settings. What is the hidden step that must be done after swapping ADF assemblies? I tried to put the original ADF back on and it is no longer fully recognized.

Have you checked the connectors for damages where 2 wires from ADF are connected ? There is no secret step.
Does printer boot to a Ready state but ADF doesn't work?
Do you have any error messages on the front panel?
What do you mean when you say that original ADF is no longer fully recognised?

no damage, dang i was hoping for a secret step.
Yes printer boots to ready, no error messages on panel.
Not "fully" recognized because while the adf jam door sensor and adf bin full sensors are communicating, the other three associated with the scanner are not (flatbed cover, register, adf empty).
