Following the downloading of MAC Catalina, HP Easy Scan stopped functioning. Also, the HP MFP must be re-booted before any file can be printed. Need advise on how to fix.

HP Easy Scan is not yet compatible with macOS 10.15 Catalina. We're actively working to restore complete functionality. I suggest using HP Smart app or Apple Image capture to scan from your MAC. Kindly refer to this document to know how.

@gweniowa, As you are facing issues with printing, how is the printer connected to the MAC?
Check the connectivity between these devices.
Make sure both the devices are updated.
Update the printer firmware
