Hi,

Is the printer connected with a USB or through the network?

Direct scanning to Email should be done directly from the printer, by selecting Scan > Email on the printer screen, after setting the feature up.

Please clarify the connection method and how exactly you are trying to scan to email.

It might be possible from a computer, depends on your configuration.

What application are you scanning from? e.g. HP Easy Start, Apple Image Capture, from Printers & Scanners?

Do you have any mail client installed and configured on your Mac? (Such as Apple Mail, Microsoft Outlook, etc.) or do you access your email via your web browser?
