MFP M127fn
Mac OS X 10.11 El Capitan

The MFP M127fn worked several months ago.  After 15 minutes of inactivity the printer would "sleep" and would "wake" when a LAN job was sent to it.  While in sleep mode, the printer touchscreen would go dark and the power light would flash slowly.

Now the printer touchscreen goes dark, but the power light remain lighted without any flashing.  The print job can be viewed in the queue but does not print.  To print, the printer must be powered off and on.  Touching the touch screen does make the screen active but the job will not print until the printer is turned off and on.

This occurs in OSX, Windows, and Linux.

I'm using an ASUS router, model AC-68P, and it has the latest firmware update from ASUS. I saw a reference to the multicasting option in a post.  I don't see this option is the AC-68P router settings.

This printer is connected by ethernet only.

I saw an earlier post about printer firmware, but the link appeared only to be for app printer software.

I've done the usual power hard resets and reboots etc without solving the issue.  Could this be a printer hardware issue?  The printer is about two years old.

Any ideas on this issue?

Thanks.

Hi @zimmer1,

Thanks for reaching out to the forums! I understand that you are having issues with the printer not waking up to print. Thanks for providing all that detailed information. I would be happy to help you.

If you haven't already setup a static IP address for the printer, I would start there first: Printer Does Not Maintain Wireless Connection. Go to Solution three: Assign the printer a static IP address. Disregard the title.

I have provided the link for the firmware update available for Windows: HP LaserJet Pro MFP M127fn. Select your Windows operating system. This may also help with the printer not waking up to print also.

  • Fixed an issue where the device may not wake up from low power sleep mode when receiving a fax, if it is connected to an improperly grounded 220v power source.
  • M127fn, M127fs, M128fn, and M128fp only:
Fixed an issue where the fax resolution change cannot be saved from control panel with Simplified/Traditional Chinese language.

If the issue is resolved and you appreciate my help, please click the "Accept as Solution" and the "Thumbs Up" buttons. Let me know how you make out. Cheers!

Thanks for the help.  I ran the Mac OSX update to the software.  The printer now wakes from sleep like it should and the documents print..

For some reason the power indicator light remains lighted, and does not flash slowly when the printer is in sleep mode. The touch screen goes dark but the power light stays the same.  It used to do a slow flash to indicate sleep mode.

I'm still working on the firmware update.  I downloaded the Windows update of the firmware from the link you provided, but it reports an unspecified error and doesn't update. The printer works so  I think the problem is I'm using ethernet to print and don't have a USB cable connected. The firmware updater may require a wired connection,  I will try that.  The firmware in the printer is from 2013 when it was new.

I also checked the power outlet with a power line checker since that was a part of the firmware update although only for 220 volts and I'm using standard 120, and it says the ground is good and the polarities are correct.

Again thanks for the help.
