Hi, this bargain has turned out not to be one!. Purchased a few weeks ago, 2nd hand. Replaced the toner cartridges, working beautifully until....... Now everytime I turn it on I get Error 57.01.
From what I have read it appears to be the main fan or its power supply may have failed?
1. Am I correct?
2. are the parts available and easy to swap out?
3. If not easy, how much should I expect to pay a professional for repair?

It's not that hard to swap out and try to find and download repair(or troubleshooting) manual first.
Check to see if the fan is stuck by something and try to unplug then plug the wire to see if it helps.
If the fan needed to replaced check what V and A are (24V 1.0A for example)? If you have another kind model of HP printer maybe there are exchangeable.

Usually to access the fan you will need to remove the side panel of the printer. Check youtube as there are always videos that show the steps. Sometimes you can resurrect a fan but most times it is better to replace as they will usually lockup again due to wear in the bushings. As stated these fans are all 24 volt, main fan for this model is RM2-7419-000CN.
If you are standing, facing the front of the printer the fan is located on the right side. Remove the paper tray, remove one screw from the back side of the panel and then work the back of the panel off and work your way forward. This panel can be removed without removing any other panels.
