HP Laserjet Pro 500 Color MFP M570dn
macOS 10.15 Catalina

I'm attempting to upgrade the firmware in my recently purchased MFP M570dn, yet I'm unable to connect to HP Web Services.

Attempting to connect, either from the printer itself, or from the local URL, results in: "Connection Error - Check Internet Connection"

Granted, I've plugged the ethernet cord directly into the Mac, which I suspect may be part of the issue, however, Bonjour has picked up the presence of the device, as has all the local software. Problem is, the router is unreachable by CAT5.

This brings me to issue #2: Making this thing wireless. I'll post that as a separate question.

Thanks in advance for the assist.

After much trial and error, and even inventing a few new words, soon to be common in the English language, I'm sure, I've been able to connect.

I reset all settings to DEFAULT (for the second time), while connected directly to the router.

Once I did that, I was able to connect to Web Services and update the firmware.

Now, on to trying to make this thing wireless. 🤔

UPDATE: I have wheeled the printer down the hall and connected it directly to the router, and I'm still receiving the same error message. I've tried a different CAT5 cable, just in case.
