LaserJet 8100n
Microsoft Windows Server 2012

LaserJet 8100n is connected to network using ethernet, but network is not discovering the printer.

Printer is older so specific drivers are not available for download, only universal drivers.

Printer was donated from another (non-profit) organization - does not have a parallel connector available.

Printed configuration page shows default IP and panel on printer does not seem to have a way to change it.

So my question is:

Would it be worth the effort to purchase a parallel connector?  Would that allow me to change settings and get the printer on the network?

you could try installing an external jetdirect card into the printers formatter board.  theres typically a slot open for one.  in the printer menu, you'll see an option to enable the external and setup its IP once the ethernet cable is hooked into it.  A parrallel connector, if i'm not mistaken, would be more of a direct connection to the PC and not the network.
