When printing multiple copies of the same (1-page) document, the printer processes the document separately for each copy - i.e. process the job, print one copy, process the same job again, print another copy,  and so on.  For a simple page, this isn't a problem, but recently I had occasion to print 12 copies of a page  that was heavy on graphics, which took well over 5 minutes to process each time.  This meant that I took over an hour just to get those 12 copies printed.

Is it possible to program the printer to process the job once and then churn out the 12 copies I need?

I am using MacOS 12.13 (High Sierra).

Thanks,   Paul.

It looks like this question may not have arisen before, since nobody has provided  an answer.  But I expect that the issue isn't specific to my printer, but would apply to many (if not all) HP printers.

If anyone knows whether what I want to do is either possible or NOT possible on any HP printer, I would appreciate their feedback.

Thanks,    Paul.

May be an issue with Mopier mode. Here is a link to another discussion on this topic.

Thanks for that.  I've never heard of Mopier mode, so went looking for it after reading the other post.  It looks like it is what I need for this job.

No sign of Mopier anywhere, so it may be hiding under a different name.  The options under the Printers Settings are virtually zero (I'm using a Mac computer), so I went to the printer's webpage:  no sign of Mopier there either, but under Device Configuration->Print there is something called Auto Continue (turned off).  Is this the same thing?  If not, is there a different name it could be hiding under?

Of course, it's possible that my printer or driver doesn't support Mopier mode at all - how can I find that out?

Should have guessed by the user name this was MAC. I did some checking but could not find any documentation on whether the mopier mode applies to MAC or not. Is your firmware up to date on your printer?

The firmware had never been updated, and it was 6 years old.  I did an update, but I couldn't see any difference with respect to Mopier (no sign of it), and the original issue is still there.  So I guess I am in for some long print sessions - not that I have to print this type go heavy-graphic documents very often.

Thanks for your comments, though.

If you are doing graphic heavy work you might want to consider upgrading the memory on the printer. Another 256mb would increase print speed noticeably.

That's a good thought.  I've had one job run out of memory, so adding more was on my radar anyway.  I can't find it on HP's website, but there are several substitutes on offer at good prices.
