Hello,

My business has a HP Color LaserJet Pro M454dn. Back in September, It was having issues misprinting every 3 or 4 pages. Sometimes it was a genuine misprint, other times it was just verrrrry slightly vertically misaligned on the page. After tons of troubleshooting, we replaced the pickup and feed rollers (shown below incase I got the names wrong) for both tray 2 and 3 and it was working fine.

Now we're running into a ton of sporadic issues: When printing from tray 3, it will randomly jam at the rear door even though the jammed page is perfectly fine and can be printed on if put back into the paper tray. Other times it will print two pages at once, causing a jam alert even though nothing is physically jammed in the system. When printing from tray 2, almost every page comes out as a misprint with either very faded ink or vertically misaligned text.

These issues do not overlap; when printing from tray 2 it doesn't jam/print doubled pages and when printing from tray 3 it doesn't misprint with faded ink.

This printer was purchased in early 2023 and sat, untouched, in storage until a printer needed to be replaced in March 2025.

On the software end, we have a bit of a unique setup and only one of the drivers allows our system to print in color so we cannot use other drivers. I'm not sure if this could even be a driver issue, but I though I'd mention it.

Sometimes it will happen multiple times a day, sometimes not at all. Sometimes it'll jam with a 3 page print, sometimes with a 50 page print, sometimes not at all. Genuinely at a loss about what to do. Did we get bad roller kits? Is there something wrong with our paper? (W.B, Mason premium white copy paper) any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you

If you installed the cheap pickup and separation rollers, that might be the cause. The original HP are pretty expensive, but they do the work.
