HP Officejet Pro 8600
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My Officejet Pro 8600 driver keeps changing automatically, behind the scenes, to a HP Color LaserJet 2820 AiO PS Class Driver.

If I delete all HP printer drivers in Windows 10 and then download a new Officejet Pro 8600 driver from th HP web site, my printing works fine at first.  But then all of sudden I can't print and when I check the printer advanced settings I see that somehow the driver for my HP Officejet 8600 printer has again chenged to HP Color LaserJet 2820 AiO PS Class Driver.

How can I stop this from occurring?

Welcome to the HP forum, I see that you are getting driver issue.

  • Did you uninstall the printer from root level?

If not, follow the below steps:

Perform root level uninstalltion to remove all the printer related software's.

  • In Windows, search for and open Programs and Features.
  • Select your HP printer.
  • Select Uninstall.
  • In Windows, search for and open Devices and Printers.
  • In the Devices and Printers window look for your HP Printer. If you see it listed, right-click on it and choose "Delete" or "Remove Device.”
  • Open up the run command with the "Windows Key + R" key combo.
  • Type printui.exe /s and click OK.
  • Click on Drivers tab.
  • Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it click on it and click Remove at the bottom.
  • Select OK.
  • Remove all instances of the same.
  • Select Apply and OK on the Print Server Properties windows.
  • Close Devices and Printers.
  • Restart the PC again.

Download and install full feature driver for the printer.

Click here to download the driver.

Let me know if that helps.
