HP LaserJet p2055dn
macOS 10.12 Sierra

My P2055dn printer is now taking a very long time to print simple documents.  It took more than 5 minutes to print a simple text document from my MacPro 5,1 with just 2 words on it.  The software is Apple's Pages The printer driver window says "Printing - Connecting to printer."  This is a significant increase in print time.  My computer and printer are connected to an AT&T WiFi router with ethernet cables.  My wife has the same problem printing from her MacBookPro using the WiFi.  We also tried connecting the MBP with a USB cable.

Hi I would like to assist to the best of my ability to solve your problem.I hope the information i supply will be of help.Just for information some technical information is protected by HP and is not allowed to be answered. This is unfortunate and you will have to contact a HP repair shop for the help in this case.I don't know mac os but i would maybe try to  uninstall the driver from scratch and then retry the print.Maybe the driver became defective.

Thanks for the suggestion.  I believe that I tried that before.  Once again today I executed a print command for a simple text document and when the window opened that allowed me to choose a printer (I also have a Canon ink jet printer), clicking on the field "Printer" I had options to choose on of my two printers or "Add Printer..." or "Printers & Scanners Preferences...".  I selected the "Printers & Scanners Preferences..." and a "Printers & Scanners" window popped up listing the two printers.  I selected the HP LaserJet P2055dn and deleted it by pressing the "Delete" key.  I then pressed the "+" button and an "Add" window opened with "HP LaserJet P2055dn (883BC8   Bonjour" as an option.  I clicked on it and the printer showed up in the "Printers & Scanners" window again.  I then attempted to print a simple text document.  This time the printer completely failed to print.  The print driver reports "Printing - The printer is offline."   Now the problem is even worse.  Did I not do it correctly?

I don't know why it didn't work last time I did the reset.  This time it did work.  Thanks for the help.

The queue has sat for 10 minutes so far. what gives?! Happened the other day. Shut off the computer and the printer. The next day I turned both on called up the document and tried again. Much later the document printed. I reinstalled the Universal driver and it worked great...... Yesterday. Now I am waiting for another document.
