This is essentially the same issue as this one though the replies to that did not address the issue at all.

I need to reinstall the official HP driver on a new Mac.

This uses the HP Easy Start app. That app starts to download both the driver package and the HP Easy Scan package. It then says it has installed them but it fails at the next step where you try to select the HP driver rather than the built-in Airprint driver.

After some digging I found the log for the app and it reveals the actual ftp location of both the driver and the Easy Scan as standard MAC .pkg files. I downloaded them but each one says it requires Rosetta to run. Which I do not want to install.

From the log you can also see that the crappy Easy Start app gets an error when trying to install the above packages (presumably because of the lack of Rosetta) but it just silently proceeds as if it has worked - such a terrible app.

Check the above snippet from the log.

My question - is there a driver package for Mac which does not require Rosetta to be installed?
