Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

Hi,

Working in a Win7 client, Linux CentOS server environment. SonicWall router.

Set up printer, prints fine.

As for Scanner, used the HP software, browsed to network folder, saved settings.

Went to scan, "error. Your printer cannot connect the network. Press Edit to correct server name and address." Aside from grammar issues with the message, why is it doing that?

Easiest and most reliable way to setup scan to folder is to use the Embedded Web Server of the printer (EWS) not the included software. Type the IP address of the printer into a browser address bar to access the EWS.

Thank you. I tried that as well, also did not work.

There's also a LaserJet Pro 200 color MFP M276nw on the network. It used to scan through the network, for years. That recently stopped, but they can both print however.

I was told this issue with not being able to scan to network folders happened with a few other MFP M276nws in the past as well.

Had another visit today, worked with a network engineer and a network architect remotely who said they saw that the sonicwall could not ping either printers.

I tried a few things. Power cycled the router. I activated SMB1 on one of the W7 machines, and also on the printer via the EWS.

I tried to check the firmware through the EWS, but that failed.

Good news, I am able to Scan to Computer, but still not to a network folder. What else could be the reason?

also, @Repairatrooper, thanks again, however, they have 2 offices, and printers are set to scan and save on drives at either one, so, due to NAT restriction, they cannot use IP addresses in the destination file path.

Can someone chime in on this? This is a brand new printer. We had a Ricoh Savin working just fine. Someone broke part of the machine, so we are replacing it. We are considering getting another one if we can't get this HP working in the next few days.

Since the Savin worked, we don't understand why this one has not. Any ideas???

Try going into Network settings in EWS, then advanced, then advanced.

Disable dhcpv6 and enable dhcpv4 checkbox.

I've done that, thank you, and changed some other settings, it didn't work.

I called HP and was told the enable settings are in the newer MFP printers. The sequence is: Press Home icon, Back icon, Home icon, Back icon. You should get the Enable menu. Click on that and enable all of the settings that you see. That solved the problem for me. I don't know why they don't share that piece of valuable info. Good luck.

Changing this setting shown in Pranaman's second screenshot worked for me:

Network Tab; Advanced; SMB

checked all three boxes: v1, v2, v3

now it works
