During printing and initialising the printerrols make loud noise (cheepnoises).
I think its from the paper transport system?
What is the solution.

Remove the toner and close the door. The machine will do a pre start cycle.Should the noise be gone the toner cartridge might not turn easily.Should the noise still be heard even without the toner then the fault can be on the drive gears and even on the fuser unit.Hope this helps.
If without the toner everything works smoothly, it means you will have to replace the toner. If it is still a new unit have it serviced by contacting HP Support Team since it is a brand new printer unit.

Hi Mandigers,
Does the noise you hear occur only at the start of a print job from when the engine is sitting in a ready mode? This series of printers uses a special gearing that saves you, the customer, a lot of mechanical wear. this is done by keeping the two halves of the print cartridge separated until the printing is actually occurring. One side effect of this is that for mono printing, there is a loud click and for color there is a series of 3 then 1 (or 1 then 3 - I don't remember) clicks as the engine puts the two halves of the cartridge together (Called alienation). If you take out a print cartridge, you can squeeze it and see the two sides separate and return - this is what the engine is doing.
There was also a series of loud pops at the very start of each cartridge as the toner was allowed to flow into the main cartridge area from a storage pod in one half. For these noises there is no solution.
On the other hand, there are, as you noted, print rollers that sometimes squeak during the printing. The other answers to your question may help solve this, although it is difficult to tell if it is the many rollers in the print cartridge or one of the media transport rollers in the machine. There are engineering fixes for some of these, but most are not customer applications - such as conductive grease on the internal rolling contacts.
Sorry, not much help. Dovid

Hey GM-33,
I am glad that replacing the Cartridge removed the noise. Sometimes when that noise occurs because the cartridge is getting very low on toner, it can cause other problems because the toner also lubricates lots of the cleaning blades in the system.
For your duplexing question, please try this. The drivers for this engine can be set for auto duplexing, and some apps (word, excel, powerpoint, etc.) are not smart enough to send just one page when the job is one page only. Thus, the printer prints a blank back side of the page then reverses the media and prints your image on the front. If you open a document that you want to print, then in the topmost menu (windows) select File ->print, a print dialog should open. Depending on the driver, you may have to open Printer Properties under the printer name. Others there will be a drop down menu that says Print one sided/Print on Both Sides (either with the option on which edge to flip)/Manually print on both sides. Choose Print on One Side. If you have only the Printer Properties, then on the Printing Shortcuts menu there should be a Print on both sides pull down. This should be a Yes or No option. Choose NO, then OK. When you then print the document, it should print on one side only and not reversing the media. I am not sure how "sticky" this setting is, but if you print a document and it works, usually the option is chosen the next time you open the menu. You might have to do this for each of the apps.
Hope this helps, Dovid
