hp laserjet p1102w
macOS 10.12 Sierra

Same problem as Aherodias :

I installed mac OS 10.13.2 and since that my HP Laserjet P1102w, connected via USB, is not recognized.

I deleted and reinstalled the printer software but the device appears only as a scanner and  I got the message " disk not recognized".

Can an HP support agent helps ?

Hi @piconst,

Welcome to the HP Forums 🙂

I would like to take a moment and thank you for using this forum, it is a great place to find answers.

As I understand, printer does not work after installing MAC 10.13.2

No worries, as I'll be glad to help you,

Please perform following troubleshooting steps to resolve the issue:

Resetting the Printing System (Mac)

  1. Click the Apple menu, and then click System Preferences.

  2. Click Printers & Scanners, Print & Scan, or Print & Fax.

  3. Right-click (or Control + click) anywhere inside the Printers window, and then click Reset printing system.

  1. Figure : Clicking Reset printing system

    Image: Click Reset printing system
  2. Click Reset or OK.

  3. If prompted, type your username and password, and then click OK.

    The printing system resets.

  4. Turn off the printer, wait 5 seconds, and then turn on the printer.

  5. Wait until the printer is idle and silent.

  6. In the Printers window on the Mac, click the Add button .

  7. Select your printer from the list, and then click Add.

It might take a few seconds before your printer displays in the Printers list.

Once completed, reinstall drivers following steps from the link.

Keep me posted!

Cheers 🙂

Thanks for the quick reply. Printer works now. It seems to me that the critical step was #4 of your procedure.

It would be a good idea to tell us the reference of the last driver because HP website is so full of cross references that it is a hardwork to find the last driver.

@piconst

Thank you for the update,

I appreciate your time and efforts,

To find the latest drivers, you could visit our driver page and if the driver is not available for your operating system, suggest you install drivers using Apple Software Update

I'm glad you found the solution for this concern.

You've been great to work with and it has been a genuine pleasure interacting with you.

I hope both you and your product works great and remain healthy for a long time 😉

Take care now and do have a fabulous week ahead.

Cheers 🙂

Hi,

I had the same problem, but I deleted the printer and trying to reinstall it but it only appears as a scanner when I try to add it in System Preferences. I added it as a scanner but then it asks to install driver for the scanner so there is no way to reset printing as the option does not yet appear when I right click.

I downloaded the driver package from apple "HP Printer Drivers v5.1 for OS X" but the installer freezes at installation step.

Is there a driver for the P1102W somewhere?

Thanks

I have tried all of these steps and I still cannot print.  The printer icon appears in my dock as though a document is printing but the printer never does anything.  I also cannot print on our M1227fw but strangley everything works fine on our old LaserJet 1200.  All the support steps I have seen here just lead me in circles.

Mine appears as a scanner only as well and there are no driver available for the printer

Good luck getting help here.

The best they can seem to do is to tell you to unplug and restart the hardware, or re-install the software.  So much for support.
