Just installed the printer and printed one page. Turned the printer off but the paper support didn't retract as it should. What should we do? We found that the problem is with the 'output tray extender'.

Hi! @trk440, Thanks for stopping by the HP Support Forums!
I understand that your printer will not retract paper correctly.
Manually push the extender after turning off the printer.
If you do not want to use the extender at all, you may lock the position of the extender by pushing the switch at the back of the extender to "lock" icon.
Also, try performing a hard reset on your printer.
Resetting the printer can force some types of scanners to calibrate which might fix the problem.
Remove any items from the scanner glass and automatic document feeder (ADF), then close the scanner lid.
With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the printer and from the wall outlet or power strip.
Wait at least 60 seconds.
Plug the power cord back into a wall outlet.
HP recommends connecting the printer power cord directly to a wall outlet.
Reconnect the power cord to the printer.
If the issue still persists it is a hardware issue. Please contact HP support for service options.

I'll watch your reply!

We contacted Costco, who contacted HP, before we saw your answer. But you are correct according to that person at HP: we have to manually push the extender tray back after we turn off the printer, it isn't designed to retract automatically. We didn't try a hard reset, since everything else seems to be fine. Thanks for your help.
