P2055dn
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

We've been using a P2055dn printer and the CE505X cartridges.    What happens is -we get about half way through a cartridge, and the print quaility deteriorates fast.  There's all kinds of verticle lines and smudges and ghosts.

The printer has printed 167,500 pages so far.  I've seen that the cartridge is supposed to give us approx 6,500 pages, however we use the printer for very basic invoices.  When I print a supply status page, it say approx 10,000 pages printed and 10,000 pages remaining, after about 3 months of use.

Installing a new cartridge gets rid of the lines and smudges, but there's still a slight ghost visble on the pages.  Once again, it's ok for about half the cartridge, then it starts to deteriorate again.

Are these cartriges simply not designed to last that long ?

Or is my printer past it's prime ?

If you are supposed to get 6500 pages and you printed 10000 and supplies status tells you that there are still 10000 pages left I would think the toner coverage percent that was used at the begining when it calculated your usage was off so all toner supplies remaining are now off. I do not know of any way to correct the problem except by maybe performing a NVRAM reset but you will lose network settings if you do it.
