HP Laserjet MFP M175nw
Microsoft Windows XP

The file size of pdf files created using the scanner feature of my laserjet Multifunction Printer; MFP M175nw are larger than they should be.  Files should be in KB not MB's.   Previous threads on this topic concluded that it is flawed or poor software and nothing can be done by the user.  They concluded that HP needs to update the firmware for the device to provide better compression.  Anyone have a recent update?

@thirty2hop,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

I assure you I will try my best to get this sorted.

I recommend you follow the below steps and check whether the issue is resolved.

1. From the HP Scan, click on "More" - top right hand.

2. Go to "Image" and select a lower Resolution. If you are scanning documents then reduce the DPI to the least available.

3. Scan and save, it should be of a smaller file.

Let me know how it goes and you have a great day!

If you wish to show appreciation for my efforts, mark my post as Accept as Solution. Your feedback counts!

Cheers!
