Large pdf files won't print e.g. 15 mb.  I can use PDF Squeezer to reduce file size to 1 mb so it will print.

1.  How do I get printer to print large files?

2.  Is there a limit on file size I should know?

Thanks

Welcome to the HP Forums, this is a great location to get assistance! I read your post and see that your printer does not print large PDF files. I would like to help you resolve this issue.

However, I will need a few details to provide an accurate solution,

  • Have you ever print a large pdf file on this printer before?
  • Did you do any hardware or software changes?
  • When did this issue start?

Meanwhile:

If it is a large PDF files, usually printer might be very slow in terms of printing.

Update the printer firmware.

Click here and refer the document to update the printer firmware.

You can also refer this HP article to know how to print PDF files.

Let me know if that helps.

Cheers.

i have printed large pdf files in the past.  I had just printed a 20mb file.  When i tried to print another file of similar size it would not print this file.  Also when I tried to print the previous file that had printed, it would not longer print.  I have not changed any equipment or updated any programs.  About a year ago I was able to print files over 30mb.

Note:  These files were created in Photos (contact sheets with 30 photos per sheet 40 max photos) and in Pages where I created a file with multiple photos.  With Photos the files were 80mb and I reduced the file size to under 20 MB with PDF Squeezer.

Thanks for your response.

I checked for firmware update from the printer.  There were no updates found.

Thanks for the response.

Perform a NVRAM reset on the printer.

It will go back to the factory settings.

Thanks.  I will give this a try after I finish some printing jobs that are not having problems.

Here is something I use when PDFs print slowly (or churn forever).

1. Open the PDF

2. Go to "File" and "Print"

3. From the Print UI- look for the "Advanced" button (it is to the upper right in my version of Adobe Reader next to the "Properties" button.  It may be on the bottom of the UI in earlier versions of Adobe Reader

4. The "Advanced Print Setup" box should be displayed.  Put a check in the box "Print As Image".

5. Once this is checked- try printing.

-This setting uses a different rendering path versus a text/mixed text image doc.  See if it helps.
