Laserjet 2600n
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have spent the whole day trying everything I’ve read and can think of but my printer starts up, initializers then calibrates which then gives the message “page too complex click check mark” ... clicking check mark does nothing. Starts calibrating again ...and ends up completed with the same message “page too complex”.
I have tried changing the USB speed to all the settings auto, full, high ...

the engine service button in the back when I try that does print out the page ....

updated everything I could for drivers ....

gives me an error when I use the HP toolbox ...

basically it seems when the “page too complex” it’s just dead ... I can cycle through the menus but when I try to actually do something nothing happens

Help please!

There is no retained queue on the printer itself, so if you are getting this error when the printer is stand alone and not connected to your PC then you likely have a bad board in the printer. I would suggest that you perform an NVRAM reset on the printer and if the error does not go away you are going to be faced with repairing the printer or replacing it. A job to complex error suggests an issue with the formatter board. I am sending you a PM with further instructions.

Any chance you have a print job stuck in the queue on the printer? While a great printer, the 2600 can have problems with newer print jobs due to increased complexity of print in newer software applications.

No I don’t believe so. Can there be a print queue in the memory of the physical printer because it’s not on my computer? If so, how can I clear the memory of the printer itself?

what I also find odd is that when I turn the printer on with no computer connected I still get this process where it initializes, calibrates then gives me the page too complex error, starts calibrating again then page too complex ... and then it finally just has the orange indicator blinking and you can move through the menu but pressing go on anything does nothing

I can’t thank you enough for taking the time to answer my question!!! I luckily had an old broken 2600 the I switched the formatter board and VOILA the printer is back to working condition and my new timers aren’t going to go to waste!
