I installed the new 94X cartridge in my printer but I still get the "Very Low Toner" message with every print job.  I unplugged the printer for over a minute and repowered but no change.  Is there something wrong with the new toner cartridge or must I manually reset the remaining toner estimation?

Do you get Very Low Toner message on your computer or on the printer front panel?

Dear Valsimot,

Thanks for asking.  I get the error message on my computer screen and on the printer LCD display.

Also, the error message on the computer screen lists the new 94X cartridge I installed.

Strange that you have a Very low message on the computer and New cartridge installed also on your computer.

Are you using original toner or refill? What happens when you put your old toner back in ?

I bought  the toner from the HP website- a brand new product.  I sent back the old one for recycle.

Can you take a photo both of printer screen and the computer screen showing you those messages and post here?

From printers front panel, go to reports and print supplies status page there you will find all information regarding toner, install date, printed pages and level.

If the install date is after the purchase date, and you have low printed pages you should claim your toner for defect and ask for a replacement one.

Any chance that you have mistakenly recycled new toner and put used back in the printer?

Thanks again for all your advice.

As you suggested, I printed the status page.  It read only two days of printing and "very low" tone.  I called HP and they did the standard "turn it off, take out the cartridge, reinstall, turn back on...".  Nothing changed it so they're sending a new cartridge.  Then it got interesting.

They emailed me a return label and said as soon as they receive the defective one they'd overnight a new one.  When I pointed out I'd be without a working printer during that time, they agreed to overnight a new one now, but I had to pay for it.  Then when I return the defective one they'll refund my money for that new replacement.  We'll see.  They must get scammed a lot.
