Hi @Hanna44,

Thank you for replying,

I appreciate your time and efforts,

As I understand you are not able to make a copy from the printer, this definitely looks like a hardware failure. I would suggest you follow the rest of the troubleshooting steps suggested in the previous post.

If you have followed the steps and still having the issue, I would personally suggest this could be a printer hardware. I would recommend you contact our HP phone support for available service related options.

If your product is out of warranty, please choose paid options to get the tech support number.

HP Technical Support can be reached by clicking on the following link: http://h22207.www2.hp.com/us-en/?openCLC=true

(1) Once the support page opens please select the country in which you're located. Next, enter your HP model number on the right.

(2) Next, choose the 'Contact Support' tab at the top and scroll down to the bottom of the 'HP Support- Contact' page to fill out the form provided with your contact information.

(3) Once completed click the 'Show Options' icon on the bottom right.

(4) Lastly, scroll down to the bottom of the page and select 'Get the phone number.' A case number and phone number will now populate for you.

If you have any troubles, let me know and I will do my best to help!

Hi @Hanna44,

Thank you for posting on HP Support Forums. It is a great place to find the help you need, from other users, HP experts, and other support personnel. I came across your post and wanted to assist you. I see from the post that you are having issues with your HP Photosmart printer only prints blank pages after replacing the ink cartridges. Don't worry as I have a few suggestions which should help you resolve this issue.

To provide you with an accurate solution, I'll need a few more details:

Are you using genuine HP ink cartridges or refilled ink cartridges?

Are you able to make a copy from the printer?

Have you tried to update the firmware for the printer?

In the meantime, while you respond to this post, let's try these steps here:

Perform a Hard reset on the printer and make sure that the printer is connected directly to the wall outlet and not to the surge protector.

Remove all the ink cartridges and then try to perform a hard reset on the printer.

With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer and also unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.

Remove USB cable, if present.

Wait for 2-3 minutes, press and hold the power button on your printer for about 30 seconds to remove any additional charge.

Now plug back the power cable straight to a wall outlet without any surge protector or an extension cord and then plug back the power cord to the printer.

Turn on the printer and wait till warm-up period finishes and the printer is idle.

Now insert the ink cartridges and then try to print a test page and check if it works.

Let’s first try and make a “photocopy” to determine whether the issue is with the printer or not. Place a document on the scanner glass and choose “Copy” option. If the printer is making a good copy, then the printer hardware is fine.

If your printer connected wirelessly, make sure to temporary connect the device with USB and then follow the link to check for the latest firmware update if available for your printer, using this website.

Next thing, I would suggest here is to Print and evaluate a Print Quality Diagnostic Report and check for the results: Please follow solution 6 from the support document for - Print Quality Issues as well as perform all the prescribed steps.

If you have an another set of cartridges, request you to try them and check if that helps. If you are able to print using the other set of cartridges, this definitely indicates the issue with the other cartridges being defective.

If the issue persists even with these cartridges, then I would suggest you try to clean the cartridges, printhead and check if that helps.

I hope this helps. Let me know how it goes for further assistance.

Eagerly waiting for your response!

I hope you have a good day ahead,

And Feel free to ask your queries as this forum has some of the best people in the world available and ready to help.

Hi, Thank you for responding to my post.

In answer to some of your questions, yes I am using HP ink cartridges,  I am not able to make a copy, I have Not updated Firmware ( Idon't know how to do this).

I have Not done a Hard reset as yet. I will try that and get back to you.

I have already cleaned the print heads. I have changed cartridges.  No change.

The print copy using color seems to be ok. A little light.  Black does not print.

Thank you. I'll get back to you after a do a Hard reset.

I have performed a Hard reset.

I can make a copy only on color setting. If I use economy setting or black, nothing prints.

I cleaned the printheads. I tried to align the cartridges,  but error message comes up saying "cannot detect alignment page." Not aligned.

I changed ink cartridges. I have used a lot of ink trying to fix this. I am out of cyan and blue.

So I will need to get ink cartridges before I continue.  Thanks for your help.
