HP Photosmart 6520
Chrome OS

Color missing on Print Quality Diagnostic sheet.  Won't even copy.  Don't know if it is a laser jet printer or Inkjet.  Went thru all the steps to correct but didn't work.  Help, please!

Hi! @lczarnow, Welcome to HP forums.

 

I understand you have issues printing in colour from your printer.

 

Don't worry I'll try to help you out.

 

Did you make any changes to your printer?

 

Have you tried checking with a different ink cartridge?

 

Does the issue persist when you make a copy from your printer?

 

Have you tried checking with a different ink cartridge?

 

Have you tried printing from a different application?

 

Replace, low, empty or faulty ink cartridges on your printer.

 

Make sure the ink cartridges are properly vented and correctly seated

 

Clean the printhead

If you found defects on the Print Quality Diagnostic report, run an automated tool to clean the printhead.

  1. Load plain, white paper in the tray.

  2. On the printer control panel, touch the Settings icon .

  3. Touch Tools, and then touch Clean Printhead.

    The printer cleans the printhead and prints a test page.

  4. Check the test page for defects.

If the issue still persists after trying out the steps it is a hardware issue with the ink cartridge. Replace the faulty ink cartridge.

I made an error.  Color prints.  It is the black that color is missing.  All brand new HP cartridges.  On 2nd black; still doesn't work.  Went thru all the steps (12).  Printer is five years old.  Is it time to get a new one?  Do I get another HP and have this happen again?  Seems it happens quite often. 

 

If I get another brand, I lose all that money in cartridges.

As you mentioned the colour prints fine but you have issues printing in black colour.

 

I would suggest you try checking with a different ink cartridge first and then you can think of replacing the printer.

 

I think it could be ink cartridge issue. I will share you few details through a private message about the service options for your printer.
