I began to get a vertical stripe of faint and blurred print about 1/4 inch wide on an 8-1/2 X 11 sheet about two inches from the left edge of the printed sheet. The document otherwise looked good. I replaced the toner cartridge (HP 85A) with a genuine HP toner cartridge. The same stripe is still present on a subsequent printing.
Others have been told to run the cleaner program. My WIN10 settings page shows devices, one of which is my HP printer; but there is nothing when I right-click on the device. Is there a double-secret access to the cleaner for WIN10?

Hi @OshkoshJohn,
If you are still experiencing the issue after trying the steps in the link of my previous post, then I recommend you contact HP for further assistance.

The issue remains. I swapped out the cartridge and rebooted, with the same washed-out vertical stripe on the printed page.
I checked the hypertext link to "devices" at the bottom of the devices list, found the HP P1006, right-clicked to "properties," and found NO "clean" option.
Best Buy and Staple have the new HP p1109w on sale for 80 Ameros, and it uses the SAME cartridge.

My conclusion is that because my p1006 is way out of warranty, and ther new version, the wireless p1109, costs 80 Ameros, and uses the SAME cartridges, I will toss the old printer at the local free recycling dump-off at Best Buy!
The input from HP was pretty much worthless, for want of specific WIN10-PRO 64-bit application. Their suggestions only apply to WIUN7 and WIN8.
Thanks anyway. Knowing information doesn't exist is as useful as an actual fix.
