Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have not changed - knowingly - anything since the printer was successfully installed more than a year and a half ago. I have always printed in Times New Roman font in all Microsoft 2007 Word and Excel on a machine using Microsoft 10 64 bit.

The printed font changed when I removed a hyperlink in the text of a page. I wanted to print the page without the hyperlink. The page was printed with a font that is very light and the letters have two lines. Two lines means each letter has double lines. The font size is what is requested.

I am using Microsoft Excel and Word 2007 exclusively. The unrequested font and printed lightly happens in both programs.

All print jobs using some old files and all new files are printed in the unidentified and unrequested font.

In the Home Group/Font Group in Excel only the Theme Fonts does not show Times New Roman as a font currently being used. In the All Fonts, there is a font listed as 8514oem. In Word these elements do not appear.

Hello, @jackthemac – Hope you are well 🙂

Allow me to welcome to HP Support Forums! It is a great platform to get help from the community, get suggestions and find what has worked for others!

I understand that you have issues while printing certain fonts using your LaserJet printer. I’d suggest creating a new document as a test with these fonts and see how that prints, another option would be to try these fonts within another text application and check the results, that will help us narrow it down.

Also, go to Control panel – Devices and printers. Right-click on your printer and select printing preferences. Look for something like “Print truetype as graphics” here in the printing preferences and enable the same.

If the issue persists, try reinstalling the drivers as suggested below:

  • Unplug the USB cable from the printer and computer if present.
  • Go to Control panel – Programs and feature – Select all the HP LaserJet printer entries and uninstall them.
  • Restart your computer.
  • Now click on http://hp.care/2qef7sg to download and install the printer drivers.
  • Connect the USB cable if prompted and follow the onscreen instructions to complete the installation.

Those steps should do the trick, let me know the outcome!

Good luck 🙂

The finished solution was to uninstall the printer and download the provided software -  http://hp.care/2qef7sg.

The printer was not completely visible in Control Panel, Devices and Printers. The printer name was HP Color Laserjet MFP M477 PCL 6 on the newly discovered printer. The printer's name in the existing Devices and Printers was HP Color Laserjet MFP M477 fdw. I installed the new printer and deleted the old.

The printer prints from the desk top and lap top properly.

Thank you for your solution and quick service.
