Is it just me, or has HP a horrible company when trying to get support/help?

Recently, our MFP M477fdn Multi-Function machine on our local network won't wake-up when calling  up a function using the HP Smart App.  It's at the same local IP address it's been since installing it here in 2020, and used to wake-up just fine.  Waking it up isn't difficult, unless one isn't in the same room.  All the while, HP Smart is happy to report the supplies status among other things, printer awake or not.

Does anyone have a workaround or suggestion to get HP Smart to wake this device up?

This  site keeps asking for the Ser. No. and looking for printers in my profile.  I've managed to add the product multiple times, but then a moment later, there are no devices in my profile.  I had to say this was for "a product I do not own" to get this far - all other support options are blocked.  The serial number is "Invalid" it claims, yet HP Smart has no trouble finding it (which you can't copy/paste - another annoyance).

As this printer is likely out of warranty, the only way to get personal assistance is to subscribe to HP Smart Friend. Personally, I avoid using any HP apps with printers and prefer to configure the device to operate without the need of the app. This device supports direct scan to folder and you can print directly using the HP Universal Printer Driver. Apps add layers of possible failure to what is normally a straight forward experience.
