Hello,
Wondering if anyone has the HP Update Utility Tool for Mac. Each link I've seen is broken. I can't find the tool to download. Have an HP P1606 that is going to sleep in econ mode. I understand that's a function of the new OS on the printer, which doesn't work well, however it also is seen by the mac as a disc when plugged in via USB.
If anyone has that tool or know where the download is please let me know.

Welcome to HP Support Forums. 🙂 I came across your post and would like to help.
I understand that you have an HP LaserJet Pro P1606dn Printer and need the firmware update for it. I read that printer goes to sleep while it is in economy mode. I'll surely assist you with this.
I did some research and found that the sleep mode cannot be disabled permanently. Instead, the sleep mode timings can be changed from 5 minutes to 10 minutes to 15 minutes. If the printer is left idle for that much longer then it gets into the sleep mode.
However, I checked the HP website and found the link for the firmware update for this printer. Please click here to view and download the firmware update.
I hope this helps. Please feel free to let me know if you have any questions. All the best! 🙂

I have the same problem as Obasan. On High Sierra (10.13.6) macOS reports that it cannot open the update application either. This is with the app for the 5/31/2018 firmware update on this page:
