I'm trying to use my HP LaserJet1022 with a new laptop (Lenovo Yoga 510), running Windows 10. The printer ran fine on a different laptop, also running Windows 10.
I have connected the printer using a USB cable, and ran the Windows install Wizard. The printer was automatically recognized and shows up (as HP LaserJet 1022) in my Devices and Printers folder in the Control Panel. It also shows up on the list of printers in Chrome and Word.
However, when I try printing nothing happens. If I try to print a test page, I get the message 'Test Page Failed to Print' straight away. If I try to print in Word, I get the message "We couldn't print because there doesn't seem to be a printer installed :-("
Also, when I connect the printer to the the computer, I do not hear the usual 'device plugged in' sound. Still, the computer is detecting something because when I plug the USB in the printer is shown as online in the Control Panel, and when I plug it out it is shown as 'offline'.
I installed the HP Doctor and it detects the printer and reports no error. Running Troubleshooting also detects no errors, and it says the driver is up to date. I tried setting it as 'default' printer and it didn't help.
Thank you so much for your help everyone!
