As the printer is not actually supported by by newer operating systems, I would advise against using a parallel to USB adapter cable. Better success will be had by purchasing a parallel to ethernet print server and then connecting the printer to your network. This printer is a PCL  5 printer which rules out using current HP UPD drivers. You will have to use a driver built into Windows and if there is not a driver for the 6P you could chose the Laserjet 4000 driver or finding an older UPD PCL5 driver.
