Hi,
I get a Error 50.0 error when I print to the printer. The LED display keeps showing "initializing" instead of "Ready". So what hardware I need to replace? How much would be the cost? And my warranty has expired.

Hello Mr. Chan
50.0 is an error related to fuser Assembly. This error comes when fuser assembly is not able to maintained its proper temperature.
To brief on teh functionality- Fuser assembly is made up of heating element, thermistors, teflon etc. if thermistor is not able to reach to the operataing temperature so that it can send signal to the printer that i am ready to work, then it gives 50.0 error message.
In general this related to Fuser assembly but in rare scenarios this error can be related to the power supply, when the supply voltage is not proper.
I would recommend you to get the Fuser assembly replaced in this printer. total downtime for teh replacemnet of spare will not be more that 30 mins including general cleaning of the printer. Onsite Technician will carry all the relevant spares for the replacement or you can visit your nearest HP Authorised Service center for the replacemnet fo Fuser assembly.

Kaps

Hi,
Does this mean the complete fuser assemby ( not any part of it) has to be replaced instead of some toner cartridge?
Below mentioned some tools will it hard to find? Will servicing/replacing inside the printer like this hard to be done for a customer ( not a maintenance personnel)?
Required tools
● #2 Phillips screwdriver with magnetic tip
● #8 and #10 torx screwdrivers

Let me add my 2 cents again. A replacement fuser for this unit will run anywhere between 80.00-150.00 US depending on vendor and condition. This is just the cost of the part and if you need it installed it will cost at least 85.00 for labor. I just do not think it is worth while to repair this printer since you can buy a new one off ebay for 175.00 shipping included.
