I just had to install a new router (SP provided DG2470 wireless gateway), so after completing the setup: no printing.  Contacted the SP and we got everything talking, but now the printer hangs up with a printing document message.  Printer properties says device working properly.  Don't know what to do to resolve this.

@SCGolf1,

Welcome to the HP Forums!

Thank you for posting your query on this forum, it's a great place to find answers.

I reviewed your post and I understand that you are unable to print after replacing the router.

Don’t worry, I assure you I will try my best to get this sorted.

In order that I may provide you with an accurate solution, I will need a few more details.

  • Are you getting any error when you print?
  • Have you made any software or hardware changes on the computer?
  • Have you performed any troubleshooting steps before posting?

Is the router configured to 5Ghz or 2.4Ghz frequency? Please make sure that router is configured to 2.4GHz as the printer doesn’t work on 5Ghz frequency.

Meanwhile, I recommend you follow the below steps and check if it helps.

1.) In Windows, search for and open Programs and features

2.) Select your HP Printer

3.) Select Uninstall

4.) In Windows, search for and open Devices and printers

5.) In the Devices and Printers windows look for your HP printer. If you see it listed right-click on it and choose ‘Delete’ or ‘Remove Device’

6.) Open up the run command with the “Windows key + R” key combo.

7.) Type printui.exe /s and click Ok. (Note: there is a space in between “printui.exe” and “/s”)

8.) Click on the “Drivers” tab

9.) Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it Click on it and click Remove at the bottom

10.) Select Ok

11.) Select Apply and Ok on the Print Server Properties windows

12.) Close Devices and Printers

13.) Restart the PC

14.) Download and install the printer software from the below link.

15.) Connect the USB cable ONLY when prompted and follow the on-screen instructions.

Let me know how it goes and you have a great day!

If the solution provided helps, please mark this as “Accepted Solution” as it will help several others with the same issue to get it resolved without hassles. Your feedback counts!

Take care.

I have the exact same issue after installing a new SonicWall SOHO Wireless firewall.

Reinstalling the software does not help.  Going back to TZ105 router - and the printer works fine.  Pretends to work, but hangs up with "Printing Document", just as the OP stated.

What are the instructions for a Mac?

I went through all recommendations.  Shut off and unplug printer turn back on, wait until it is quiet; unplug router and wait and restart; shut down computer wait, restart; delete printer from list; re-install; try direct print, NOTHING is working! I also reset!

Has anyone solved this problem?  If I switch back to my TZ105 and connect wirelessly, the printer works fine.  If I switch over to my new SonicWall SOHO - printing fails.  That's the only change, and all of the wireless settings are the same between the firewalls.

Thanks!

Hope you figured it out by now but there are tons of settings in a sonicwall as i am sure you know. When swapping for a new one not all settings come over every time.  Make sure you followed instructions on what firmware to what firmware is marked as capable for all settings and not only some settings if transfering them from old sonicwall.  Also the newer units have a lot to do with Multicast and access rules when it is a wireless printer.  You will need to really dig down into the access rules as well as the more advanced wireless settings.  They are hell to configure and i have probably setup/upgraded around 25 tz routers over the years.  I love them, yet i will still say they are hell to work with!
