HP Laserjet CP3525dn
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

My network printer HP Laserjet CP3525dn is not pinging when it is connected to the LAN switch directly but it is pinging when it is connected through a daisy chain i.e. LAN is connected to a IP phone and the printer ethernet port is connected to IP phone LAN extension port.

Thanks

Printer hooked up to phone? lol, that is something!

Based off a similar issue we had with an hp laserjet m425dn scanner, our network engineers had to actually disable PoE at the switch port. It was a helluva time getting that scanner on the network. Perhaps disabling/enabling can help for you.

Since IP phones are generally on a different network frame that could be the issue. At your computer go to a command prompt and type ipconfig and hit enter. Write down the ip address of the computer and the gateway. Example 192.168.1.35 for the computer and 192.168.1.1 for the gateway. Now print a config page from the printer and see what ip address the printer has when connected to the switch and then print a config page when connect to the phone circut. If not the same first 3 sets of numbers when connected to the switch the problem is the computer is connected to the ip phone network whose ip settings are not the same as the switch. Now if the ip address is the same with both connections to the printer that would indicate the printer has a manual ip address and the switch is not in the same frame. If you change the printer to dhcp or bootp to obtain its ip address that will show you if the switch is not in the same frame as the computer.
