Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

- Printer is accessible via IP - shows status is "Ready"

- I ran the HP Print Doctor - it wasnt able to print a test page, even after uninstalling / reinstalling drivers/ software......but when i clicked "run internal test print" it was able to print fine.

- all computers on my network are unable to print - so i dont think it is a software issue - seems to be a network issue, but i cant figure out what......... i have switched off firewalls, and still the same problem

- i have a main router provided by telco, and my own wireless bridge that everything is connected to (main router is running DHCP)

 

Any help is appreciated here please community - i am at wits end - I cant print, HP ePrint wont print, and nothing is making it past the print queue except for that internal print page.......

Not at all sure this will help -- IF the internal print test is bypassing the queue to complete, then the following might help.

 

Print Queue Reset

 

Try / Consider:

Restart print services and clear the print folder

 

  • Control Panel > icon view > Administrative Tools > Services >
  • Scroll down, find, andStop Print Spooler Service
  • Delete files from C:\Windows\System32\spool\PRINTERS
  • Start Print Spooler Service

Cancel Print Jobs in the Printer Queue

 

 

If no joy, try  / consider:

 

Restart Everything Sequence

  • Stop all programs, close browsers, shut down the computer completely (cold stop)
  • Stop / shut down printer
  • Shut down / disconnect other devices on the network (Drives, NAS units, File servers, phones)
  • Shut down the router
  • (Optional, depending on situation) Shut down the modem that connects your household to the Internet

 

  • Let everything sit quietly for two minutes
  • (Optional, depending on situation) Start the ISP modem (Internet Service Provider) - let it boot completely
  • Start the router and let it completely boot before starting other devices
  • Boot any NAS units, standalone file servers
  • Boot computer(s) – wait for Operating System to completely start
  • Boot / Connect miscellaneous USB drives, other devices
    • Boot Printer(s)

 

Repeat steps to clear the Printer folder and (re)start Print service.

Hi Dragon

 

I tried exactly as you suggested below:

 

- Restart print services and clear folder: lots of temp files were stuck in there and undeletable - had to kill a couple of print programs to force delete them - no luck - still unable to print after

 

- Restart everything in the order mentioned: Success! printer then started working - thank you for your help! 

 

Im not sure what the cause is though? did some hung service stop the printing?

The Print Service gets stuck on occasion if there is an terruption to that service that causes the code to start going in circles.  

 

Stuff gets stuck in Windows all the time -- sometimes the File System can clear up the issue on its own, sometimes you have to kill / clear / delete / restart to get rid of the "blockage".
