I have just replaced the toner with a non-HP toner cartridge because I do not want to pay the rediculous prices for an HP toner cartridge, however, I cannot get it to release the "Attention Required" status in windows 10, and in the web service it just tells me I have a non-HP cartridge. Is HP now somehow thinking they can require you to only use their cartridges?

Hi @xaviorbat,

Thank you for responding,

It's great to have you back 😉

You could try following troubleshooting steps:

Download and Run HP Print and Scan Doctorftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/printers/hppsdr/patches/HPPSdr.exe

Uninstalling and reinstalling printer drivers

  • Go to Control panel – Programs and feature – Select all the HP LaserJet printer entries and uninstall them.
  • Now go to Control panel – Devices and printer – Select all the printer entries and remove the device.
  • Then press the "windows key" + "r" to get the "Run" window open - Type "printui.exe /s" and press enter.
  • Under print server properties, go to drivers - remove any entry there as well.
  • Again, go to run window, type – “c:/programdata” – Go to Hewlett Packard folder, remove any printer related folders & files.

To reinstall, click here.

Let me know how this goes!

Have a great day 🙂

Hi @xaviorbat,

Thank you for posting on HP Forums,

Flower_Bud is at your service.

As I understand, you're getting an error message related to HP Toner Cartridge.

No worries, as I'll be glad to help you, that said, I'll need a few more details to dissect your concern & provide an accurate solution:

Have you tried non-HP toner cartridges earlier?

Was your printer working earlier?

HP recommends that you use genuine HP ink or toner cartridges. HP cannot guarantee the quality or reliability of non-HP cartridges or refilled HP cartridges.

Hope this helps!

I hope you have a good day ahead,

And feel free to ask any other queries as well.

The printer works fine, as long as I don't go through the software. It can print its test pages just fine, so its not the toner, the software just refuses to accept anythinf from the PC.
