Hi @roddmortensen,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

It sounds like your HP LaserJet MFP M234sdwe has lost its "handshake" with your network, which is common for "e-series" printers that require a constant cloud connection. When the status shows as offline, the HP Smart software cannot verify your HP+ account or send print data, even if the printer appears to be powered on.

  1. Restart the printer and clear the Windows print spooler.
    • Unplug the power cord from the back of the printer and wait 30 seconds before plugging it back in.
    • On your computer, type Services in the Windows search bar and open the Services app.
    • Right-click on Print Spooler, select Restart, and wait for the status to show as "Running" again.
  2. Use the "Diagnose & Fix" tool within the HP Smart app.
    • Open the HP Smart app on your computer or mobile device.
    • Click on the icon for your LaserJet M234sdwe and select the Diagnose & Fix (wrench icon) tool.
    • Click Start and allow the app to automatically reset the port settings and "wake up" the printer communication service.
  3. Verify the IP address and manually reconnect the port.
    • Print a Network Configuration Page by holding the Information (i) button on the printer for three seconds.
    • In Windows, go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers, right-click your printer, and select Printer Properties.
    • Navigate to the Ports tab, click Configure Port, and ensure the IP address matches the one listed on your newly printed configuration page.

For further troubleshooting, please refer to the official HP printer is offline or unavailable support document.

Is the Status light on the front of your printer glowing solid white, or is it pulsing amber?

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day ahead! 🚀

Best regards,
