Microsoft Windows 11

Hello,

I have a HP LaserJet P2035N printer that is pretty much brand new but it hasn't worked in 10 years.  I have only gone through one tonor cartridge since I purchased new.  The issue that presents is a error code to add paper blinking red.  There is paper in the tray and the tray is inserted and set correctly to the letter sized paper.  I have tried all the reset stuff.  The engine begins when turned on but nothing happens when I attempt to print either manually or from computer connected.  The rollers are all like new.  Its as if the printer doesn't know it has paper in it and so it won't try to print.  I really need the printer now and have the time to devote to it to fix if there is someone who could help me identify and fix.  Thanks in advance for assistance!!!

If you open the upper manual tray and load paper, is the paper error cleared from the panel?

Yes.  I opened the manual tray and printed a word document from the manual tray.  But if I take that paper out of manual tray and close it back up the light comes back on.  Thanks so much!

Remove the lower tray and take a photo of the front side without the tray and post it here.

That in the red circle is a paper presence sensor lever. When it is like that in a lower position printer knows that there is no paper, when it is in the up position printer knows paper is present in the tray.

Move it with your hand to see any changes in the printer's front panel paper icon should stop blinking when in up position. It's possible the sensol lever moved from it's original position and it's not reaching the actual sensor.

Hmmm.  So I looked at that and I fiddled with the circled piece along with the feed rollers that interlock.  On the positive side everything is connected well but I can’t get that piece to stay in any other position than down.  The light does go out when I move that up, however, when I  press print again it just comes back on.  I think we are on the right track.  I just don’t want to break something but am willing to try.
