I am trying to remove the ink toner that came with the printer but something is jammed on the left hand side. The right hand side releases but the left does not.

Any advice short of trying to take the whole thing apart?

Hi @Corodell,

Is this a new printer ? I am asking because it is a known problem that M604/605/606 have their not-new toners stuck when they are moved. What happened is that your toner cartridge is stuck on the contact springs of the printer and most probably they have been now bent. The damage is done. The springs are now bent. You have two options:

1) Try and force it by tilting it out. You will then see one or both of the contact springs bent.

2) If you remove the left cover, you may have a little view of those contact springs and try with an appropriate fitting tool to release them from the stuck cartridge.

In either case, you (or a service technician) will have to either unbent those contact springs or replace them.

I hope that helps,

Cheers!

Thanks. I believe you are correct about the contact spring. We have another one of these printers so I can see what you are referring to.

I have had no success trying to release it though so it looks like I may have to call somebody out.

Well the engineer from HP has been and fixed the printer. You were correct, it was the contact spring. He bent it back into shape and all good now.

Thanks.
