HP Printer
Microsoft Windows 10 (32-bit)

My printer just stopped turning on.  The power button won't work.  I tried putting it into another outlet.  The printer prints beautifully and is in perfect condition.  Should I get it fixed or is it time for a new printer?

Thanks for your assistance.

Can you provide more details about your printer. Some models have common issues that might apply but without you giving some details it is impossible to help.

Hi PhillyGail,

Your message contains some intriguing statements.  When you plugged it into another outlet, does it then work fine and turn on OK?  If so, if you are using the same cord, it is probably the outlet or the circuit breaker behind that outlet.  If the printer just stopped working from one outlet, I note that some HP printers have a hard on/off switch and a soft switch.  The hard switch is usually near where the power cord enters the machine, while the soft switch is often lit and near the front.  Depends on your model, so letting us know which printer would help.  The printer may also go to sleep and that could be set for a very short time, so the machine might look like it is off but may wake on a print job or copy mode button push, etc.  Please explain the conditions a bit more and I believe we can get to the bottom of this.  Dovid
