That usually happens when the printer or its software hits an error it can’t explain on its own, so it pushes you to the manufacturer’s support page. It’s annoying, but the cause is often simple. Here’s how to narrow it down quickly.

First, check the basics. Make sure the printer is actually set as the default printer on your computer. Also confirm it’s online and not paused. A lot of “won’t print” issues are just the printer being stuck in offline mode.

Next, look at the print queue. Cancel any stuck or failed jobs. One corrupted job can block everything behind it and trigger that redirect to the website.

Then check the connection.

For USB printers, unplug the cable, restart the printer and computer, then plug it back in.

For wireless printers, confirm the printer is on the same Wi-Fi network as your device. If the network recently changed, the printer may still be trying to connect to the old one.

Ink or toner issues are another common reason. Even if it looks like there’s ink, many printers will refuse to print if a cartridge is reported as empty, missing, or incompatible. Reseat the cartridges and close all covers firmly.

Drivers are a big trigger for those website redirects. If the driver is outdated or corrupted, the printer software often sends you online instead of printing. Reinstalling or updating the printer driver usually fixes this.

Finally, restart the print spooler service on your computer. If the spooler crashes or hangs, the printer can’t receive jobs and the software punts you to support pages.
