When I select printing preferences in the driver, the full options are not displayed.  The right side is cut off.  Has anyone experience this?

Thank you both for your feedback.  I try to troubleshoot things myself but gave in and called the Geek Squad for which I have a contract.  She tried different things.  She ended up completely uninstalling the driver including all trace files and reinstalled the driver.  This FIXED it.  I tried uninstalling it prior also, but apparently did not uninstall the trace files.  So it is now working as it should.  Thank you again.

The only time I have seen anything similar to this on any of my systems is when I have changed the setting in Scale and layout to something other than 100% (recommended).

Settings > System > Display

"Scale and layout" settings - check and adjust if necessary back to "recommended" levels.

Thanks for responding.   I looked at scale and layout.  It was set at 125%, and it said "recommended."  I changed it to 100%, but it did not make a difference.

You are welcome.

“Recommended” is relative to the native resolution.

Well, it was a guess - not a very good one, at that.

If it were the scale, it would have likely affected more than just the content inside the menu boundary.

Hi,

I would guess it is related to the DPI setting indeed.

After changing the scaling to 100%, have you restarted your PC or logged off as required? otherwise, any changes won't apply.

Under Display Settings, Click Advanced Scaling and make sure there is not any custom scaling value there too

Thanks.  I did think this was tied into the scale - I did not remember the details other than cranking the scale back to the "recommended".  I had been fussing with several of the setups to test "something" - no idea which "something" that might have been at this point. Yes, after I readjusted the settings I likely Restarted - Windows still loves a good Restart.  Smiling.

"Recommended"

If the display is very high resolution (Raven is only 1920 X 1080 - Recommended = 100%) - it makes sense the recommended scale would be 125%.  Yes?  Spectre loaner had that nice High-Res display and the "normal" scaling (to keep menus and icons from disappearing into tiny dots) was (I believe) 125%.

Pathways ...

Settings > Ease of Access > Display > Make everything bigger

Settings > System > Display > Scale and Layout

Control Panel > icon view > Ease of Access Center > Make the computer easier to see

Will think on this...

What about having set odd / downloaded / weird fonts?

I have done this too (more testing and shoving things around) - and the results are sometimes "not ideal".

Yes, I did restart the computer.  Is this the page  you are referring to.  It is set as default.

Comments.....

One possibility I can think of has to do with the fonts.  Not likely, but perhaps possible...

Not all fonts are equal - this includes the size of the font at a given size.   One font may appear (and actually be) larger than another font at the same size.  For example, if you open a Word document and use Calibri fonts (#12) and then switch to Arial Fonts (same size), the two fonts when viewed next to each other are visually (and actually) different.

Fonts are made differently - this is why Arial text, for example, views as "heavier" and uses a tiny bit more ink to print.

Font spacing at the same size might view differently on the screen.  For example, Arial and HP Simplified are structured to actually require different amounts of space for each character.

This whole "which fonts are used in the menus" is a bit obscure - and not likely related unless you have installed "other than" standard TrueType fonts or perhaps if the primary language on the computer was originally other than English.

I can imagine something "like this" happening:  If the printer software or the controlling container for the menus are corrupted, the fonts / software / containers (control the way menus are viewed / presented) have been changed (due to updates, for example).

If this does not make sense, ignore it; he comments - and the situation - are perhaps not relevant.

@ShlomiL  may be able to comment better on this..

From what little I know about it, the print driver (printer software) would ordinarily provide its own fonts when presenting menus and the like.    So.. not in the printer software - at least I've not yet found it....

I am missing something...

If I think of anything useful, I will post back.

You are welcome.

Reinstalling software works...

Makes sense - corruption in the driver is one of the most likely culprits.  So, yes - removing and reinstalling the printer software would be a main component in eliminating the issue.

Not sure to what "Trace Files" you are referring, though these might be the data / files in the Device Manager or the personal printer data within your AppData hierarchy.

For those reading...

In general, you should have success removing / reinstalling the printer software.

Uninstall the printer software >

Restart the computer >

Download-save-install a fresh copy of the Full Feature Software >

Restart the computer.

It is possible that something else was also interfering, Windows updates that had not been completely installed (waiting for Restart, for example).  And / Or the printer was not removed from Devices and Printers...or the data in AppData was corrupted, stuck.   Finally, there are Registry entries to consider - I do not generally address the Registry in the Community simply because editing can be very useful - and very dangerous.

No worries!  Finally, success.

Happy Printing.
