I'm attempting to help my mother-in-law print from her ipad (I'm an android/MS person and have very little knowledge of the apple products).
Problem 1) When she prints a photo it fills the entire piece of paper
Problem 2) When printing through the HP app, the print function begins, but gives an error message because the photo paper tray is empty. She wants the picture to print from the main (document) paper tray. How do we make this happen?
Thanks in advance.

Hi bucnole,
Welcome to the HP Support Community. I'd be happy to assist you with the "printing from iPad" issue.
To print a picture on a regular sheet of paper using the HP app.
On the App select print a document instead of print a photo and then select a photo to print.
And, refer step 2 in the document to knowhow to edit images before printing them.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
