HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M477 PCL 6
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

When printing on high gloss labels (currently using the "Card Glossy 176-220g" setting on the printer) the labels are not crisp and at times appear to be smudged with lettering from something that was printed previously.   I am using labels from Online Labels (OL2279WS).  It is almost as something (ink) is sticking on the fuser (or other internal parts)  and not properly applying to the labels.   The printer will randomly "clean itself" and after that process labels print better but you still don't get a full sheet of perfect labels.

Thanks for your help...

How are you feeding? From the MP tray or the paper tray? MP tray is preferred.  I would also suggest that you set the paper type as label instead of glossy as this will cause the printer to feed slower and reducing the chance of smearing.

Thanks Professor - that did it.   I really appreciate your help.  Now I can quit wasting these expensive labels.

Have a great weekend!
