StaplesPhotoSupreme200gCover.jpgPrinter is set on Glossy/Presentation, HP Brochure Glossy 200g, same as Premium 200g Glossy photo paper I am using. I could not find a similar question on the Community. 'Ghosting' is probably the wrong term. It is bleeding blue color mostly on two sides, 3/16" or so, but some on the other two sides. I tried calibration but no change.

My issue is resolved. HP Tech Support was excellent and it was a problem with the driver.  The rep installed a new driver, then did a firmware update and the printer is now printing photos with no smear/bleeding or background color and the print speed is back to fast.  If you have this same issue, call tech support.  It is likely the same driver problem.

Please post a sample so I can see exactly what it is doing. Just to confirm, you have purchased paper designed for laserjet and not inkjet?

Thank you for responding. A scan of the Staples Photo Supreme 200g laser compatible paper has been added. I have been using this same paper in my last laser printer for years.  I only printed two photos on my M281 prior to this, on the same photo paper, and it printed perfect.  But that was a few weeks ago. I may be posting images incorrectly but I am new to this forum. I tried scanning the photo with this issue but the blue bleeding does not show on scan.

Sometimes taking a picture with a cellphone and posting that might show the defect.

Tried several light sources and this is the best I can get on I phone 7. Quality of tHPBleedingPhoto86.jpghe actual photo is not an issue, it is 30 years old. Just the blue bleed on all side but most on top and right.

Someone posted they have the same issue but it disappeared when I logged in. I just purchased genuine HP Glossy Brochure Paper 200g. First, it is not 'Glossy', it is a Matte finish. Second, it has the exact same smear issue as the Staples paper I posted previously. Waste of $12.00 on Amazon. Is there anyone on the Community who can help me resolve this smearing before I send this new printer back?

Just tried a new photo on HP 'Glossy' Brochure 200g on M281 printer setting Brochure/Presentation/Glossy Brochure 200g. Now the M281 makes noises, then stalls for 3 minutes, then prints with both a ghost bleed and background border color.  The photo is in Photoshop 7 and both photo and canvas are set to RGB 255,255,255 White. HPGlossyBrochure200gAddsBkGrdColor.jpg
